Quite a few situations have come about where I need a pretty good reach and after considering the pros and cons of the other options I picked this one in particular because I'm prone to accidents and I didn't want one to grab any electricity. I chose this package because I didn't feel like I needed it to be any longer than the 13 ft like some of the others offering three additional feet of reach but I don't think at that distance you're going to be any more effective. This one is very lightweight and easy to deploy probably harder to actually get it back in because it's friction based. Bag maybe could have a different type closure, the drawstring would allow the pole to just fall out the end, and some sort of sewn on strap for a carabiner? I just envisioned the pole sliding out the end of the bag if it's not cinched up completely. But beyond that I'm very happy about this purchase and ready to try it out in the wild especially in all the water hazards I end up in.
Bought this as a gift for my friend who plays disc golf, and he said it is a godsend (as a constant disc "misplacer").
If you need 13' to retrieve your disc, it does a great job. It is a high quality fiberglass retriever. It compacts down to 16" but is still pretty large trying to store it into my disc bag.The biggest issue is that you cannot really use this retriever for shorter lengths. You could extend to shorter lengths and can hold it at the top of the handle but it is not simple and does not feel natural. It's good but not great and I will probably keep searching for the perfect retrieving pole.
I've been thinking about getting a disc golf retriever for a while, because just about every time I go out, I get my disc stuck in a tree and my buddies have to help me get it down. It does flex quite a bit when fully extended, so you may have to do some maneuvering to reach. your disc in a tall tree with lots of branches. This pole extends long enough that it would have reached my disc the last 2 times I got it stuck. It also includes a variety of grabber tools to stick on the end if, for example, your disk is stuck in a water hazard, a tree, or thick bushes. If you're a novice like me, this is a great tool. It's a little bulky, but it extends pretty long. It's not particularly lightweight, but not bad for what it is. If. you want something lighter or disc golf a lot more regularly, you might want to upgrade to a carbon fiber or other retreiver.
Fits in bag, sturdy with several useful attachments. Should come in handy from time to time.
