I originally looked at this as a protective shield for a injury, but it's honestly just a great piece of "get out of my space" insurance for the court. The matte finish looks surprisingly cool--it gives off a "masked hero" vibe rather than looking like a medical device. The padding is well-placed and adjustable, so it actually stays put while you're running the floor or going up for a rebound. It provides a solid barrier that absorbs impact without pressing into your face, which is exactly what you need when the game gets physical. Visibility is key in basketball, and this shield doesn't block your peripherals or your view of the rim. It feels sturdy, breathable, and gives you that extra bit of confidence to drive to the hoop without worrying about your nose. This face mask is excellent for preventing a nose injury when playing sports. It provides a hard shell and padding for the underside that provides cushioning. This protects the face like knee pads protect the knee. The nose guard mask is versatile. Thanks to it's coverage of a large area, it's a great base for making a venetian ball mask or blinging it out with rhinestones just for a unique nose guard.

This is a great, form fitting protective face mask from HIAARO. Naturally, I've seen this type of nose/face guard used in basketball for years but it's rather embarrassing that I just thought of its possible use in Sport Karate. Headgear has been mandatory in Sport Karate for decades and face masks are mandatory for youth and teens and optional for adults. But the clear face shields that are used are attached to the headgear with Velcro straps. The main issue I have with them is they tend to stick out farther so a strike or kick from the side can catch the face mask and actually contribute to more torque on impact to the head and neck of the recipient. That's actually less safe. This nose guard/face mask is made of tough and durable Polycarbonate (PC) and is form fitted more to the face with adhesive foam padding and a pair of elastic straps to secure it. Worn under the sparring headgear it will protect the nose and eyes without protruding any further than the headgear. I hope I can convince competitors to start using it. HIAARO has designed a comfortable, contoured safety mask with double adjustable elastic straps that fits well and is definitely worth the price. Easy 5 STAR rating.
