Great mask to protect a broken nose after surgery. My 10 (almost 11) year old son wears this to school. It is big BUT it is comfortable for him and was one of the only masks that didn't touch his nose at all. For a child/pre teen this mask would probably not work in a game type scenario as it will move around. For his daily wear to school as a very active 4th grader this is perfect.

Used this for a political character at my murder mystery party. Not only looked great but came with plenty of padding so it was very comfy to wear as well. Can't speak to its ability to protect however.

I got this to wear as a mask with a Halloween costume and I am very happy with it for that. The red, white, and blue flag print is bold and bright and appears to be scratch - and fade - resistant. There are two complete sets of foam pads included, but even without the pads, it is pretty comfortable; it just puts light pressure on my cheekbones and forehead. The eye holes and nose cavity are quite large so the mask will fit a range of face sizes and shapes. The stretchy straps are wide and adjustable so they don't dig into the back of your head, and you can strike the perfect balance between secure fit and comfort. There are no instructions included to give guidance on installing the pads or heating the plastic to reshape (so I'm not sure the latter is endorsed by the manufacturer). The plastic is thick and inflexible, so it feels very strong and durable. The inner and outer surfaces of the plastic are smooth and easy to rinse/wipe clean. All of the edges are rounded, but there is a bit of a sharp ridge along the edges that could potentially cut you if you run your hand (or other skin) across it quickly.

Instead of using this for its intended purpose I paired this with a Halloween costume. I think it works well as a costume but I'm going to review it seriously to try to give insight to customers that are looking at it for its intended purpose. Since it's principal function is to prevent more damage to your face after a serious injury that is how I'm reviewing it. First, the durability is definitely there. In spite of being made of moderately thin but hardened plastic, it feels so durable. It probably isn't going to prevent damage from a fastball but almost anything short of that isn't even going to put a crack in it. The mask itself is contoured to focus the pressure on your cheekbones and divert it from your nose completely, alleviating any pressure on that area. The mask actually sits about a quarter inch from your nose. It's good that it comes with two straps. A single strap would have to be super tight for the mask to stay perfectly positioned. But the double straps hold it firmly in place while still being comfortable. The American flag style isn't necessarily for everyone. Situationally, it could work really well if you were playing sports against another country or just wanted to show your patriotism. But the flag design on this mask is really well done and it looks good in person. Is it a good value at the current price? Yes. If you want injury protection for your face and you also want to look patriotic, this is a very solid choice. If you're using it as part of a costume I fully recommend it for that purpose too.
